About Unit 8

Unit 8 covers pollution of water and land — where it comes from, how it moves through ecosystems and food chains, and the human health risks it creates. You'll learn the toxicology basics behind LD50, the chemistry of bioaccumulation and biomagnification, and the waste management and sewage treatment systems designed to reduce pollution's impact.

This unit is roughly 7–10% of the AP Environmental Science exam and takes about 19–20 class periods. It's content-dense with 15 distinct topics, so expect broad coverage across toxicology, waste management, and water quality concepts.
