Strategy tips

Match the task to the mode. Reading and listening questions test the interpretive mode; the project and essay test presentational and interpersonal. Knowing what's being assessed helps you answer format questions.

Learn chart vocabulary early. Words like porcentaje, tasa, aumentar, disminuir, la tendencia unlock the Audio-and-Chart and Article-and-Chart sets, where many students lose points.

Think in the 3 P's. When a question involves culture, sort the detail into a product, a practice, or a perspective: it usually points you to the answer.

Read the explanations even when you're right. Each one reinforces a fact or vocabulary word that often returns in a different form on the exam.
