Strategy tips

Always ask: is angular momentum conserved here? If no external torque acts (frictionless ice, isolated objects), then L_i = L_f is your go-to equation.

For rolling problems, write K_total = ½mv² + ½Iω² and use v = rω. Don't forget the rotational piece — it's the most common mistake.

For orbits, set gravity = centripetal force. GMm/r² = mv²/r leads directly to v = √(GM/r). The satellite's mass cancels.

When the skater pulls in arms: ω increases AND K_rot increases. The energy comes from internal muscle work, not "out of nowhere."
