Strategy tips

Identify all IMFs present, not just the strongest one. A polar molecule has BOTH dipole-dipole forces AND London dispersion forces β€” questions often test whether you remember both are present.

For gas law questions, watch your units. Temperature must be in Kelvin, and make sure pressure and volume units match the value of R you're using.

Connect real-gas deviation to a specific cause. High pressure β†’ molecular volume matters. Low temperature β†’ intermolecular forces matter. Always name which one applies.

Read the explanations even when you got it right. Each one teaches a small fact that often returns in a different form on the exam.
