Strategy tips

Spot the composite. If a function is nested inside another, the chain rule applies: don't forget the inner derivative.

Attach dy/dx implicitly. Every y-term picks up a dy/dx factor; then solve for it.

Know the inverse-trig derivatives cold: arcsin → 1/√(1−x²), arctan → 1/(1+x²).

Read the explanations even when you got it right, and use correct derivative notation.
