Strategy tips

Remember the analogy table. Every Unit 5 problem is a Unit 1 or Unit 2 problem with rotational variables. x ↔ θ, v ↔ ω, a ↔ α, m ↔ I, F ↔ τ.

For torque problems, look at the perpendicular component. Only the component of force perpendicular to the lever arm produces torque. Use sin(θ) in τ = rF·sin(θ).

For equilibrium, pick a smart pivot. Choose one through an unknown force to eliminate it from your equation.

For rotational inertia, mass distribution matters more than total mass. r is squared in I = Σmr², so far-from-axis mass dominates.
