Strategy tips

Compare each mode to major or natural minor first. Find the single altered scale degree rather than memorizing seven patterns from scratch.

Look at melodic material, not just cadences, for periods. Parallel vs. contrasting depends on whether the phrases share their opening idea.

Remember form labels are usually given. If a label like "chorus" appears, use it as context rather than trying to re-derive it.
